Charlie Kirk, one of the top political right-wing influencers who helped MAGA become what it is today, was assassinated. The response to his death is…well…all over the place. Charlie Kirk was revered by the far-right and loathed by pretty much everyone else who bothered paying attention to him. Sure, there were prominent political figures and left-wing influencers who gave Charlie enough respect to sit down with him for an exchange of opposing ideas or a debate. Many on the left had a problem with anyone who dared to “hear him out”. Most leftists preferred seeing Charlie get annihilated intellectually on the debate stage.
Charlie Kirk was terrible at debating. In fact, I would go so far to say, that Charlie Kirk was never actually debating anyone. He often made disgusting, heinous, racist, sexist, statements and then simply said NUH UH! anytime anyone presented logic, facts, or statistics to him, maybe I exaggerate, but he would outright just deny anything that didn’t fit his world view or narratives. Charlie Kirk made a living spreading his rhetoric, from podcast to podcast, from university to university, and it seems someone was done listening.
People will say that what Charlie Kirk brought to the stage was an opportunity for opposite minds to practice their debate skills. But where was the debate? Charlie Kirk was an absolute idiot and often embarrassing to witness. I love a good debate, but holy forking shirt, he wasn’t even trying. But Charlie was (still is?) very popular among younger right wing males. Don’t even get them started on Charlie slanging opinions about women belonging in the home and birthing children, even at the age of 10 (if needed) in his wildest fantasies. Nothing was off the table for Charlie, he believed black people were in their prime during slavery, and that college educated black women only get their jobs because of DEI. Wow, such cool opinions he had.
Charlie Kirk went out doing what he loved, spreading bullshit. The last “debate” he was having was about trans people being mass shooters…or something…and also something-something about “gang violence” (his last words apparently), and that was it.
There is some irony and cosmic poetry in his death. It was shocking and disgusting to witness, not much different from witnessing him in action on the debate stage.

Charlie Kirks legacy will live on in the hatred of many MAGA hearts. His words are still out there for people to absorb at will. The President and his administration are working diligently to turn his death into an excuse to target and blame. They don’t know who did it yet, but they already have fingers pointed to the left. I fear we are dangling ever closer to the precipice and on the brink of chaos if we don’t figure out how to stop all this unnecessary hate.
