My motto for life is: “Own who you are in this world, we’re all allowed to learn, grow, and change our minds.”
I am many things. To some, perhaps, I am only a few, but you can call me April. Although my last name is of Spanish origin, and my middle name is Aztec, I don’t speak Spanish. I know… I know… I tried to learn, I really did, but it never stuck and my mother didn’t speak Spanish and my father lives in Mexico, so there you have it. I’ve lived in the San Fernando Valley most of my life, but I do dream of trying life somewhere a little less hot and a little more green. I am now in my early 40s and am just reaching the point where I feel like life is finally my own. I have raised my children into adulthood, and I took care of my mother the best I could in the final years of her life. I am now on an exploration of myself and looking forward to seeing what life has in store for me.

I am someone who has always wanted to do it all. I have these big ideas and big dreams, many of which have been put aside or on the back-burner, because, well, life happens. After about 6 years of school, I graduated from CSUN with a degree in Systems & Operations Management. I got a great job with a relatively small company and was recently promoted to Operations Manager. Now I am working and experimenting and brainstorming and tapping into all those dreams I once had. I’m passionate about helping people, and I feel that calling now more than ever.
Before I started college, I freelanced for about 2 years. During that time I discovered that I really enjoyed the experience of working with many different people, being helpful, and always having some new task or different project to tackle. I thrive on versatility. There’s something deeply satisfying about being the person people can count on to solve a problem, tackle a challenge, or bring a fresh perspective.
In my spare time, I love gathering with friends (especially if food is involved), dancing, going to the movies, and writing. I love to laugh, I can be sarcastic as heck, and I am that friend who will always give you an honest answer, no sugar coating here. I love having philosophical conversations and meeting new people.
I’m open to connecting with others who may want to collaborate, bring me on for special projects, or even just pick my brain and bounce ideas off me. I’m a “big picture” thinker who may be able to offer insights or perspectives to help steer you in the right direction to reach your goals.
At the end of the day, I’m a dreamer, a lover, a child, a mother, a sinner, and a saint…and whatever else Meredith Brooks said about me.
