2022 has been an eventful year for Johnny Depp! Google Trends lists Johnny as the number one searched person and actor for 2022. Let’s take a look at Johnny Depp’s biggest wins this year.

Jeff Beck & Johnny Depp (Sold Out) Tour

Johnny Depp joined Jeff Beck on his European tour just days before the jury finalized their deliberations and reached a verdict in the defamation case against his ex-wife. US tour dates were added much to the delight of fans across the country where sold-out shows drew long time fans of Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp. Many had not seen either perform and were pleasantly surprised with Jeff Becks masterful guitar arrangements and Johnny Depp’s musical talents.

Jeff Beck & Johnny Depp “18” Album Release

On July 15, 2022, the duo dropped the new highly anticipated “18” album, a musical collaboration which featured Jeff Beck on guitar and Johnny Depp on vocals. The album was released in tandem with the European tour featuring songs such as “The Death and Resurrection Show” and “Isolation.”

MTV VMA “Moon Man” Appearance

On August 28, 2022, Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance as the MTV “Moon Man” during the Video Music Awards. Johnny Depp displayed his humor as being fully intact by poking fun at himself when saying “I just want you guys to know I’m available for birthdays, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, weddings, wakes … any old thing you need.”

Johnny debuted his limited edition “Friends & Heroes” artwork collection through Castle Fine Art’s 37 gallery in Birmingham, England. Johnny’s collection featured portrayals of icons such as Al Pacino, Bob Dylan, Elizabeth Taylor and Keith Richards. All 780 pieces sold within hours of it’s online debut, earning Johnny over $3.5 million in US dollars.

Wins Defamation Lawsuit against Amber Heard

On June 1, 2022, the 6-week defamation trial reached it’s conclusion coincidentally on “World Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Day.” The jury awarded him $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.

Settles Defamation Judgment With Amber Heard

Johnny Depp and his ex-wife settled the defamation judgment amount for $1 million dollars after Heard agreed to withdraw her appeal. As part of the judgment settlement agreement, neither party will be able pursue legal action as related to the 2018 defamation. Heards’ settlement will be paid by her insurance company and Johnny has stated that he has pledged, and will donate the full amount to charities.

Captain Jack Sparrow Video to Make-A-Wish Kid “Captain Kori”

Possibly the most heart-felt moment for Johnny Depp this year, was in reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow to send a personal video to “Captain Kori” of “Kraken The Box.” The Make-A-Wish foundation helped make Kori’s dream come true by connecting him with his favorite pirate. Kori is an aspiring YouTube star whose big wish was to reach 100,000 subscribers and earn a Silver Play Button. Once Johnny Depp fans around the world became aware of Captain Kori, hundreds of thousands of people rallied together to gain support and follows for Captain Kori. As of today he is now at 218,000 subscribers and has earned the coveted Silver Play Button.

Brit Awards Nomination

The Brit Awards has nominated Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck in three separate categories for their album “18”. The nominations include: album of the year; best group; and alternative/rock act.

Lifetime New Generation Beat Poet Laureate Award

Johnny Depp was recognized and honored by the National Beat Poetry Foundation and humbly accepted the award via recorded video.

Filming A New Movie About King Louis XV

Johnny Depp is co-starring alongside French actor/director Maïwenn in a period drama, “Jeanne du Barry“. Production began on July 26, 2022 and was filmed at various locations in Paris. The films expected to be released on Netflix in 2023.

Johnny Depp donated nearly $800,000 from his Never Fear Truth NFT sale to the following charities: Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation (via CAF America); Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (via CAF America); The Footprint Coalition; and The Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA).
